It's still snowing, and I couldn't even make it down the street without getting stuck. So, today I'm working from home. I've shoveled the drive twice since 7:00am, and its covered over yet again. Snow tires would be real helpful, but I can't justify the cost of two sets of tires right now.

That's the one! Wasn't sure if anyone would get the reference.
Close, I had to look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informer_…
Sounds like he was in jail when it started becoming popular.

yeah I had to look that up. Actually not a bad album for the time...that time I remember all too well, before really good music became popular in the 90's

Yeah it wasn't bad for "Canadian Reggae". Two things you wouldn't necessarily put together.

Keep an eye on Sears and discount big box stores like BJ's, Sam's, and Costco.
I picked up four Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter tires for the Fiat for $140 after discounts and rebates. Total of $237 out the door with mount/balance/tax.

I'm not trying to sound rude or preaching from a soap box, but I don't understand your logic and that of many other people on the road.
A vehicle is one of the most expensive things one owns and relies on everyday. It makes no sense to me to not have proper tires for the proper situation. If an accident occurs, because of loss of traction, due to bald or improper tires the loss is much greater than the cost of a set of cheap snow tires.
Sorry if this offends you, it is not my intention. I don't know your finanical situation and am not trying to be rude to you, I'm making a statement on a pet peeve of mine. Good luck to you on getting unstuck

You know what costs more than snow tires? Tow trucks, missed work, hospital bills and repairs.

Well, it's more or less like this. In NW Ohio, it snows. But it doesn't, generally, snow that much or that often. We may get one or two storms a year. Last year, we didn't really get any major snow falls. The streets were clear within hours of the snow hitting the ground. This year, the last snow we had melted after a few days due to heavy rain. This snow, however, will probably stick a around, as we're supposed to have record cold temps. If this becomes the norm, then yes, I may consider it, but, usually, a good set of all seasons gets me by. The tires I'm running now, came with the car when I purchased it. They are not what I would have put on the car, and they are nearing the end of their usefulness. I will have to buy new ones next fall. If I lived in a heavy snow area, like east of Cleveland, I'd definitely have a set on my car, because they, usually, get hammered by the snow that goes around us. But I don't, so I'm not.

I know what you mean, I live in central ohio, but I'm a a shop and people continously decline tire replacement and then come back in after hitting a curb...haha. This winter is definitely not letting up
